These Cromalin Proof stickers were the proofs that Panini used to make their regular 1987 Panini NHL sticker set. I bought these from a dealer in Michigan that bought these directly from Panini in Italy. I was only able to get my hands on 274 pieces from this set. Somewhere out there, someone else has the other 135 from this 1 of 1 set. I have about 67% of the set in my possession. Each team had a die cut player that numbered right after the team logo foil. For proofs, Panini made a double size background that the die cuts fit onto in the album. The unique thing is that these backgrounds were placed directly into the album, so they are truly rare as they were never issued as actual “stickers”. The puzzles in this set were proofed in 1 piece. I only have 2 which are the Flyers team picture as well as the Stanley Cup. I have them in one piece but in the collection, they were issued as 2 separate stickers. These are 1 of 1’s so once they are gone, that is it. I have 12 Rookie 1 of 1’s listed and available. The proofs were made on thicker stock Cromalin material which was quite glossy. The backing was white with the sticker number written in felt. This Cromalin material caused stress fractures on each one of the proofs. You will notice this stress as you turn them to the light. The Nordiques have different color logos than in the regular collection, the Flames have some interesting errors where pictures are matched to the wrong players and they attempt to correct them on the proofs. Enjoy looking through these unique rare stickers. If you want something truly rare from your favorite player, this would be it, nobody else would own what you own.
Each individual sticker measures approximately 5.4 cm X 6.9 cm (2.13 in X 2.72 in). Some special panels are a little larger.
